Latin America Week: Alejandro Medina

This article discusses the Guatemalan photographer Alejandro Medina. What really struck me was that he is only 17 years old. His work has already been shown in New York and in his homeland. His work is very interesting and not something you would expect from someone so young.

Dallas’ Allison V. Smith at Marfa Contemporary

This title caught my eye because it was discussing an artist from Dallas.  This article talks about the Town of Marfa which has become an art pilgrimage.  It's said to be a middle of no where destination.  "Pilgrimage Marfa: Personal Journeys of Three Photographers" is the first show that the brand new outpost, Marfa Contemporary, will be putting on.  I find this to be a very interesting article. This town seems to be a very cool place and I'd love to learn more about it!

This title caught my eye because I absolutely love Andy Warhol's work! This article the many works of art Andy Warhol has displayed in museums throughout the world.  Not only this but the significant influence he has had on so many artist today.

               "Indeed, one of Warhol’s greatest and most enduring legacies was his ability to simultaneously confront, critique, and, most tellingly, exploit the status, affluence and illusion are the pillars of art and the art market and also of consumer culture."

  I love looking at this work and am so inspired by his insane direction!
